Comment - The central figure, possibly
a kabuki actor, carries six kites. In the upper left center is
a reddish
octopus kite
(TakoTako, õ}„J), to its right a
Yakko
kite (Å«„J) with the depiction of a yakko (footman). Below
these is an
Edo kaku kite
(½‘õ½Ç„J) , decorated with a black circular pattern and a central
kanji tableau, below that is
an Edo kaku with a white character on a blue background, and
to its right an Edo kaku with a brown character on a white
background. Both Edo kakus are
kanji kites. In the right
hand, the
kimono-clad
figure holds an Edo kaku with a
Daruma face. He is standing
on
getas. The yellowish
bamboo frame could be the wall of a small kite stall.
The casette upper left contains the title "Atai senkin haru"
(ƒr/‚ŽÇ§½ð´º) in the reddisch brown slip, and "no tanoshimi" (¤Î˜S¤·¤ß)
in the left part of the cassette. The rim of the cassette box
is decorated with a brown kite string from the
kite spool at the bottom. It
winds it's
kite line around
the lower, left and upper rim of the cassette box. A spinning
top and a bundle of straw form the left side. A
hanetsuki rack
("hagoita", Óð×Ó°å) is depicted in the upper half of the box, and
a shuttlecock is visible above it in the blue
bokashi(¤Ü¤«¤·) sky. Another
auspicious bundle of straw frames the right side of the box,
mostly concealed by the reddish-brown text slip.
