Comment - Lovely full-length portrait of a beauty at New Year's, smiling with delight as she looks over her shoulder, a small box of treats in her hand. She wears a handsome kimono shaded from deep blue to gray, bordered with yellow and navy blossoms. A large inset behind her shows a city scene, the building at left maybe a restaurant or a shop. It is framed by traditional pine and bamboo decorations, typical for New Year. Several colorful Edo kites ("Edo-tako", "½‘õ„J") are flying overhead, also a popular activity to welcome the New Year. A truly attractive design, maybe for attracting customers for the restaurant or shop in the background ("Todays good tailored clothes"), beautifully composed and colored, with soft bokashi shading in the background and sky.
