Comment - Two boys are holding a large Edo kite ("Edo-tako", "江戸凧") with a large Daruma face, a third boy bent downwards arranging the thick kite tail-ropes. Kite flying and playing Hanetsuki are typical New Year's activities. The front left dominant beauty is holding a Hanetsuki bat (Classical Japanese badminton) under her chin. She carries a Hanetsuki shuttlecock in her hands. A ferocious looking head of a lion dancer pretends to bite the kimono of the beauty in the center. Several peddlars and musicians are mingling among the visitors. The title of this print is within the heart shaped red-white-blue cassette on the upper right panel.
