Comment - The scene is picturing two ladies and three children having fun in early springtime. the plum trees in the background are blossoming. The lady on the left carries an infant on her back, and holds a Yakko Kite up for the boy on the right. The boy is ready for lifting the kite, holds the kite line in his right hand, the kite line spool is on the ground. The girl on the left holds a henetsuki rack in her right hand, and talks about it to a boy in front of her. The lady on the right looks at the kite flying boy in front of her.


Series - The series title, and panel number is given in the black cassette on the upper right. Story and title of the of this panel is written in the 'opened book' cassette upper right. The title refers to the "Tale of Genji" (げんじものがたり, 源氏物語), and is also a word play, because the characters that can be read ‘Genji’, as in the novel, literally translates also  as ‘contemporary times’ ('Fifty-four Contemporary Times Matched with the Chapters of the Tale of Genji').
