Comment - Triptych showing an attractive interior scene of beauties and young children celebrating the New Year holiday. At center, a man dances about holding a small hand drum, hopping on one foot, much to the amusement of the children watching. Another man in court dress moves gracefully at right, waving a folding fan. Behind him is a samurai armor with a golden crest on top. The two women beside him carry in a tray of sake cups and a large rice cake, while the beauty at center a clutches a decorative battledore for a New Year's game similar to badminton (Hanetsuki). A bonsai plum tree in a blue ceramic pot rests on a low shelf, next to a red offering tray with a gift on top.

A boy at the far left holds a kite reel and an Edo kite ("Edo-kaku", "江戸角"), resembling the Japanese flag. A colourful subject, rich in detail in the clothing and furnishings. The title is in the lower part of the rectangle cassette of the right panel (upper right)
