Artist ¨C SANO Takao (×ôÒ° ¡ÐÛ or ×ôÒ° ¡·ò), was born in 1941 in Kanazawa city, Ishikawa prefecture. At the early age of 18, he took part in the '11th Japan Panel Gallery Exhibition' in 1959 and won the KUSUGO Prize. He soon became a recognized artist, and numerous prizes followed, in Japan and abroad (France, Italy, Argentine, Poland, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia, Rumania, Bulgaria). SANO Takao made his first appearance as a instructor and educator in RNC TV "Sunday 9 'Enjoy woodcut print', followed by numerous appearances in the media. SANO Takao is a member of the Nihon Bijutsu-ka Renmei  (Japan Federation of Artists).

SANO Takao is well known for his multicolour shin hanga,and especially his unique ex-libris (zosho hyou) works and his New Year Greeting Cards. Many of his print were edited by Watanabe Publishers..
